Saturday, October 18, 2008, St. Thomas More hosted a 50th Anniversary
Gala Celebration Dinner in the Multipurpose Room in the BGSU Union, to
commemorate the dedication of our church 50 years ago, October 19,
1958. Following the 5 p.m. Mass at St. Thomas More, current students
and parishioners were joined by alumni and past parishioners. The
evening included dinner, oral histories by Sr. Joyce Leyman, Dr. David
Giddian, and Fr. Joe Weigman, along with entertainment from current
students.
On Sunday, October 19, 2008, a 50th Anniversary Mass of the dedication
of our church was held at 5 p.m. at St. Thomas More with Bishop Leonard
Blair presiding. Fr. Michael Dandarand, Fr. Michael Yoon, and Fr. John
Blaser concelebrated along with Deacon Gary Thrun. The church was
dedicated with a Mass exactly 50 years ago to the day, October 19,
1958. Following Mass, there was a small reception in Seton Hall.
